Business Unit Steering expands software development in Hungary
Automotive-sector | Digitalisation and industry 4.0 | mobility of the future | Around 100 kilometers southwest of Budapest, a new software development centre is being built. The goal: the development of software solutions for electro-mechanical steering systems.
The steering business unit of Automotive Technology is expanding its software development capacities in Hungary. To this end, a new development base opened in January in Veszprem about 100 kilometres southwest of Budapest. The new location is an offshoot of the business units’ development centre in Budapest. Around 900 employees are already working there on the development of software solutions for electro-mechanical steering systems. The software engineers there are also researching new steering concepts, such as steer-by-wire and steering systems for autonomous driving.
Marc de Bastos Eckstein, Managing Director of the Software Development Centre: “The demand for software components is constantly increasing for us with newly acquired customer projects. With the location in Veszprem, we have now created an expansion in the direct vicinity of Budapest, which allows us to build up additional development capacities. Close networking with the University of Veszprem is very important to us, as it already is in Budapest. We are always able to attract new talent from the university environment.”
Over the next two years, around 80 highly qualified jobs will be created at the new development centre in Veszprem.
