A good employer for 200 years

Historie | thyssenkrupp has a strong heritage. We have been writing industrial history for over 200 years, and we continue to develop our company in responsible fashion – with and for our employees.

The employee survey carried out in 2014 revealed that 86 percent of our employees would recommend thyssenkrupp as an employer. That’s no coincidence; we have a history of taking responsibility for our employees and our environment.

Back in 1836 we introduced the first company health insurance scheme, while our company pension scheme served as a model for Bismarck’s social legislation. Major changes in the Group have always been managed without compulsory redundancies.

We also give our employees the opportunity to realize their talents and ideas. We introduced a company suggestion scheme in 1872. This year at Steel Europe alone we have registered 130 new inventions. We value ideas and understand how they can help develop the future. That’s a clear sign that we all share common values such as team spirit and good communications. And it pays off: On average, our employees stay with us for 17.9 years.
